Sarah's municipal leadership, combined with her professional experience make her uniquely qualified to represent all of Cape Ann at the State level.
For nearly 20 years, she worked closely alongside State leaders. Sarah knows what makes state–local partnerships successful and where improvements are needed to better serve our communities. A few of Sarah’s priorities are below.
Audit the Legislature
Sarah fully supports the audit.
Dru Tarr voted to weaken it.
Massachusetts voters made their decision loud and clear: 72% voted to authorize an independent audit of the Legislature. Sarah supports that decision without reservation.
That's why Sarah supports State Auditor Diana DiZoglio's efforts to conduct the audit voters approved.
In June 2026, Dru Tarr (Incumbent) voted for H.5469—a bill that significantly limits the voter-approved audit. Rather than allowing an independent review, the bill narrows what can be audited and, critically, prevents the courts from resolving disputes if the Legislature refuses to provide records needed for the audit. In other words, if lawmakers choose not to cooperate, the Auditor has no meaningful way to ask a court to enforce compliance.
That's not the independent oversight that 72% of voters demanded.
This issue isn't about politics. It's about whether government should be accountable to the people it serves. Every other branch and every local government in Massachusetts is subject to independent audits. The Legislature should be no different.
If elected, Sarah will stand with the voters—not political insiders. Sarah will support a true independent audit, real transparency, and the accountability that Massachusetts residents deserve.
Strengthen our Schools
The mom of two local public high school students - Sarah supports strong state investment in public education and believes our Representative must be a reliable partner to our local school districts.
She supports fully funding Chapter 70 to reflect the true cost of educating students, including:
1. Special education
2. Tansportation
3. Student services.
Sarah believes in protecting local decision-making while ensuring accountability, expanding access to career and technical education, and strengthening workforce pipelines.
She also supports policies that help recruit and retain educators, reduce administrative burdens on schools, and ensure every student has access to safe facilities, modern classrooms, and high-quality learning opportunities.
Sarah also believes that as State Representative she can be the connector for the four Cape Ann communities so they can learn from and work together, this can be especially helpful in education where collaboration can be essential to providing our local students with the resources needed for success. Together, we are greater than the sum of our parts!
Preservation and Progress
Sarah is a strong advocate for preserving Cape Ann’s unique character, natural beauty, and way of life. She believes preservation and progress must go hand in hand, protecting working waterfronts, open spaces, historic villages, and our coastal environment while supporting thoughtful, responsible housing growth that serves local families, workers, and seniors.
Sarah believes that before growth occurs we need to invest in our local infrastructure so that any growth is appropriately supported.
She supports smart zoning and land-use policies that respect local scale, protect public access to the water, and encourage housing that fits our communities without sacrificing what makes Cape Ann special. Sarah understands that once these resources are lost, they cannot be replaced.
She is committed to making balanced decisions that honor Cape Ann’s history while ensuring a strong, sustainable future—and housing opportunities—for generations to come.
Grow our Local Economy
Sarah has long been a strong advocate for our fishing and tourism industries. She understands that these jobs are more than an economic driver—they are a way of life passed down through generations. They are a large part of what makes Cape Ann unique.
Sarah believes deeply in listening to the fishermen, hospitality workers, and small business owners who have dedicated their lives to these industries, and she will always ensure their voices are heard when decisions are made.
Sarah will advocate for targeted investments and grant programs that strengthen our blue economy and maintain harbor infrastructure, protect our working waterfronts, and support tourism amenities.
